Каталог HOFFMANN GROUP 2020 Средства индивидуальной защиты Стр. 151 0151 Lab2u SGD Hoffmann Group 51 MATERIALS Acrylic In acrylic in connection with textiles is polyacrylonitrile (PAN). As a pure substance, the polymer is very hard, stiff and resistant to chemicals and solvents. In addition, it has a melting point above the decomposition temperature. Aramides Aramides are polyamides with specific chemical (aromatic) characteristics. They have very high tensile strength (breaking length is five times as high as for steel) and are used in bullet resistant vests or helmets, for example. Cotton Cotton is a natural fibre. Cotton is generally regarded as kind to the skin, absorbent, heat resistant, long-lasting, hard-wearing and stretchable. Uncoated cotton gloves are used for dry, light work, and as liner gloves. Nitrile Nitrile polymers are chemically very resistant and have rubber-like characteristics. Non-allergenic and therefore a good alternative to latex gloves. Very good protection characteristics for contact with oil, grease, and petrol. Danger of slipping for contact with water. Nylon A trade name for polyamide 6.6. Developed and patented by DuPont in the year 1935. Originally used for toothbrushes and stockings, the first entirely synthetic fibre is now used in many areas. PE-HD High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Weakly branched polymer chain, hence the high density. Butyl Isobutene-isoprene rubber, or butyl rubber, is a polymer in the group of synthetic rubbers. Materials vulcanised with rubber have a very low gas permeability and are highly resistant to oxygen. Therefore this material is ideally suited as protection against many chemicals. Polyamide Originally developed as a synthetic substitute for silk, polyamide is used today in many areas. Polyamide is highly elastic, wear-resistant, durable and relatively resistant to chemicals. For multi-purpose gloves, the leading backing material, which can be combined with different coating materials. Chloroprene Chloroprene is almost always polymerised to chloroprene rubber, also known under the brand name neoprene. It is increasingly used in the automotive industry and for insulating sportswear. Neoprene gloves have good properties regarding oil and grease resistance, heat resistance, acid resistance, resistance to alkalis and solvents. Dyneema Trademark of Royal DSM N.V. Belongs to the family of HPPE fibres, which have up to 15 times greater tensile strength than steel at the same load and are about 40 % stronger than aramide. Dyneema is used for instance as the backing material of cut protection gloves. Dytec Cut protection fibre with a very high molecular density. In addition it means there is no need to use glass and steel. Elastane This is a very stretchy synthetic fibre that is similar to rubber, but has substantially higher strength and durability. Keeps its shape, light and soft. Also known under the trade name Lycra. Polyester Describes a large family of synthetic polymers (plastics). Polyester fibres (PES) are used in textiles, fleeces and microfibres. Trade names include Fleece and Thermolite. Polyurethane (PU) Depending on the production, hard and brittle or soft and flexible. Elastic PU has a relatively high tear resistance. PU find is used in many areas in foamed and non-foamed form (mattresses, shoe soles, sealants, adhesives). Also many gloves benefits from the characteristics of PU or PU foam coating: Good touch sensitivity, high abrasion resistance, oil resistance. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) Thermoplastic plastic with high tensile strength and flexibility. The melting point is around 230 °C. Good resistance to solvents. Poly vinyl chloride (PVC) Thermoplastic polymer. After polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), PVC is the third most important polymer for plastics. The material is also used for safety gloves because it has high abrasion resistance and it provides relatively good combined protection against acids, alkalis and alcohol. Glass fibre Long thin glass fibres. Glass fibres can be used in many different areas, such as fibre optic cable for data transmission & illumination, or due to their special mechanical properties also as reinforcement fibre for composite materials or cut-resistant gloves. Preox-aramide Preox fibre is created by the oxidation of polyacrylonitrile (PAN). Usually the preox fibres are mixed in a 70/30 ratio with para-aramides; the mixture is then perfectly suited for thermal and acoustic insulation for technical textiles. (Seats in aircraft, protective clothing for firemen, heat-resistant clothing in foundries) HPPE fibre High Performance Polyethylene fibre. Intercept yarn Ansell brand name for a cut resistant yarn. Kevlar Trade name for aramides. Latex Latex originally referred to the milky sap of the rubber tree. Today the term is also used for natural rubber or rubber. Latex is not resistant to oil. Leather Leather is an animal skin that has been chemically preserved by tanning. The natural fibre structure is largely preserved. It has multiple layers, which can be split apart. Gloves are primarily made of leather from cattle. Nappa leather Nappa leather is a very soft, chrome-tanned leather from calf or sheep with grain. It is coloured and the surface is finished, which means that the pores are closed by a number of very thin layers, making the leather insensitive to dirt and moisture. Split leather Created during the splitting process as part of leather production (tanning). This is the middle and lower layer of the leather. It has inherently two rough sides. Spandex English designation for elastane. Taeki5 Brand name for a cut resistant speciality fibre. Thinsulate Trademark from 3M for a thermal insulation fleece made from synthetic fibre. The name is a portmanteau word from thin & insulate. It is mainly used in the textile industry for cold protection products. Viton DuPont trade name for fluoroelastomers. This relatively expensive material is used in technical applications as a sealing material with high thermal and chemical resistance. Full leather Full leather is the top of the skin (toward the hair side) which has been brought to the required thickness by processing the flesh side or by splitting. Neoprene See chloroprene. 151 |
