In respect of certification, materials with OkoTex certificates must be used throughout, so as to avoid undesirable effects such as allergies, irritation or injuries. EN 61482-1-2 Working on live components - protective clothing against the thermal hazards of an electric arc This standard describes the process for checking materials and clothing components for heat resistance and flame-resistant protective clothing. The box test simulates the risks of an accident situation which may arise whilst you are working on live electrical switchgear. For this purpose a test electric arc in a low voltage power circuit is used. Two classes of test are performed. The arc flash duration for both test classes is 500 ms. Class 1: Test current 4 kA / 0.5 s Class 2: Test current 7 kA / 0.5 s This protective clothing is not electrically insulating protective clothing as specified by EN 50286. Complete personnel protection also requires additional protective equipment such as safety helmet/visor and safety gloves. Persons wearing ESD workwear protect such products in manufacture against electrical discharges that damage components.
