Каталог FACOM 2005 Профессиональный ручной инструмент Стр. 314 0311 ENG Lab2u BITS CORRECT BIT SELECTION GRADE DURABILITY ECONOMY The Facom bit range offers a versatile choice but no single product covers all applications. It is therefore essential to match hardness with usage and carry out tests where necessary to select the most appropriate type of bit. MATCHING HARDNESS TO DURABILITY AND ECONOMY "Standard" hardness bits Ideal for mechanical and sheet metal applications. 1 These applications generally require very little effort but sudden stops during rotation or when home (metal head against metal damaged threads screw not inserted square etc.) put stress on the bit which can rupture either instantly or through metal fatigue. Facom standard hardness torsion bits absorb such shocks thereby extending service life. Select standard hardness steel finish torsion bits "Hard" bits Ideal for use on wood screws. 1 This application requires hard-grade bits. Stress increases proportionally as the fastener is driven home. Maximum pressure needs to be maintained on the driver A standard bit in this instance wears very quickly and hard-grade wear-resistant bits are recommended. "Titanium" bits Ideal for "combination" drives. 1 These applications require both hard-grade and torsion qualities especially for metal-to-wood assemblies or when using selftapping screws where the best compromise between wear and or bit rupture should be found. Titanium bits combine the core hardness of standard bits with the surface wear strength of titanium coating. Select gilt-tip "titanium" torsion bits HOW TORSION BITS WORK Fig.1 Fig.2 Each time a conventional bit drives a fastener home the pattern is subjected to twisting (fig. 1 red area) when rotation comes abruptly to an end. After a while the bit becomes permanently distorted resulting in loss of performance.. Torsion bits have a necking which protects the tip by absorbing the shock of sudden stoppages (fig. 2 green area). 314 catalogue FACOM F05 |
